Facebook has just released a dialer app called hello. At first glance, it seems like any old dialer app out there in the Play Store and does everything a dialer app should but what distinguishes it from the bunch is that it comes with a neat addition, i.e it blocks unwanted calls (numbers that have been blocked by a lot of other people). As you’d expect, it’s closely tied to your Facebook account with caller ID data being pulled in even if you don’t have the caller’s number in your phone’s contacts list. Hello allows you to make calls and send messages via Messenger instead of your cellular connection as well.
The Verge reports that the blocked calls are simply sent to voicemail.

The feature list, as mentioned by android authority in their post, looks somewhat like this :
  • See who’s calling you, even if you don’t have that phone number saved in your phone.
  • Easily block unwanted calls.
  • Automatically block calls from numbers that have been blocked by a lot of other people.
  • Search your phone contacts and people and places on Facebook, without switching between apps.
  • Always have the latest info about your contacts, including their profile pictures and birthdays.
  • Open a Facebook profile or Page with just one tap.
  • Call and text for free with Messenger.
  • Call, add and edit contacts — just like you do on your phone.

The app has essentially a WhatsApp like tabbed layout of 4 tabs each of them showing call history, dialpad, contacts and the last one resides the settings .The settings house various options like see who's calling, turning on and off block unwanted calls etc. It makes for a noteworthy step by facebook to replace the native caller app considering the huge collection of data its got about us via facebook and WhatsApp.
If it is not yet available via play store in your country you can download it from the apkmirror.
You can download it from playstore here.
So go ahead and try it out. It is nothing extraordinary but is surely worth the download.

That's all for now!
