Starting today the Microsoft Office for Android app suite is available for Android smartphones, they had released the app suit for tablets back in January.

The app is similar to Microsoft Office for iOS, and while it doesn’t have the full functionality of the Android tablet version, it’s still an upgrade for anyone who uses Office tools on Android smartphones. Word, Powerpoint, and Excel are all free, and there’s Dropbox and OneDrive integration too, as Microsoft’s Kirk Koenigsbauer said in the blog post today announcing the news.

The bad news:
You’ll need at least 1 GB of RAM, and the apps won’t run on anything older than Android 4.4 KitKat, as Engadget points out. So anyone knocking around with an elderly Android phone will have to keep their love affair with GoogleDocs alive claims gizmodo.
