5 AMOLED apps that are not on the play store

Since we were not at all satisfied with the Gallery, Calculator, Calendar apps for AMOLED display offered on play store for free. We set out looking for alternative app stores for android and eventually found the app outside of play store, in fdroid appstore, a market for free and open-source Android software. It offers a huge collection of apps for Android that are free and open source. The apps can be downloaded as apks from fdroid website but we suggest you to install fdroid app since it notifies you when an app is updated.

The first app is Gallery, a worthy replacement for your inbuilt gallery app, it features a dark theme that turns the background of the app pitch black. It offers features such as sorting photos by date, size, name both ascending or descending,. Media files are shown in multiple columns, depending on the size of the display. They can be renamed, shared or deleted.

The second app is Calendar, a worthy replacement for your inbuilt calendar app, that features a dark theme that turns the background of the app pitch black. A monthly calendar without any other calendar integration. You can easily create events and setup reminders. It also contains a resizable 4x4 widget where you can customize the color of the text, as well as the alpha and the color of the background. To open the app from the widget press the month label.

The third app is Notes, a worthy replacement for your inbuilt note-taking app, that features a dark theme that turns the background of the app pitch black. A note taking app that lets you type in what you came for. Comes with autosave, so you will not discard your changes by mistake. You can access the note in no time by using the customizable and resizable widget, which opens the app on click.

The fourth app is Music Player, a worthy replacement for your inbuilt music player, that features a dark theme that turns the background of the app pitch black. A music player easily controllable from the status bar, home screen widget or by hardware buttons on your headset. You can sort the tracks by the Title or Artist, as well as change the Equalizer. It contains a widget with customizable text color, alpha and the color of the background.

The fifth and final app is File manager, a worthy replacement for your inbuilt music player, that features a dark theme that turns the background of the app pitch black. It can be used for browsing root files and SD card content. You can easily copy, move, delete and share anything you wish just like you would with any other file manager.
