In this post we look at latest iteration of google maps that has added an essential night mode in the revamped settings menu.


Previously, Google Maps automatically switch between the day and night mode, depending on the time of day. However now, users can manually set the night mode when they desire. Please note; this new feature will only affect the navigation mode, it does not affect the entire app. This is a great way to save some battery if you travel a lot or use android auto a lot, we found that this setting also changes android auto navigation settings.

The following steps the method to turn on night mode in Google maps app:

  1. Launch the Google Maps application and go to settings through side menu.
  2. In settings, you will find Navigation Setting. Tap in it.
  3. Find the Colour Scheme option under Map Display and select Night.
