In this post we address various queries, known issues associated with Power Menu.

Note: In light of recent update we have clarified regarding absence of some options in the current version of the app here.

Query:

Device stuck in safe mode or fastboot is being displayed.

 Cause:

  1.  It seems one of the volume down button is stuck in pressed position on your device. Henceforth it is booting into download mode, safe mode.

Solution:

  • Just tap on the volume up and down button a couple of times and after that try to turn on device using hardware power button.

Query:

In "Power Menu", I have to enable accessibility permission every time I open the app.

Cause:

  1. It can also be caused by low memory(RAM) or too many background apps running on your device. Keep an eye on background processes that may be hogging memory and force stopping them can also solve the issue.

  2. Many phone manufacturers have included overly aggressive battery saver settings in their settings. Sometimes, overly aggressive battery optimizers can end up disabling important functions for apps on your device, including accessibility. (The service our app uses to open the power menu.)

    If you notice that Power menu asks for accessibility permission again and again on your device, it’s likely that your phone’s aggressive battery saver settings is causing it, in which case the app is being force closed by battery management service offered by your device manufacturer.

    The good news here is that most phones allow you to customize these battery settings. The following steps will walk you through turning the service back on, and disabling the battery saver settings for Power Menu. This should prevent them from interfering with the app in the future.

Solution:

  • Re-enable Accessibility services for Power Menu.
  • Exclude/Whitelist Power Menu within your task manager or cleaner app:
    If you've installed a third-party app to clean your phone, you'll need to whitelist Power Menu. Contact your cleaner app’s support to receive guidance on how to whitelist an app. We strongly suggest you to not use cleaner apps and just Keep an eye on background processes.
  • Turn off battery optimization for Power Menu:
    To disable any battery optimization settings for the Power Menu you can try using the guide for your device type here. Follow their suggested steps to disable the battery optimization settings for Power Menu. Don't Kill My App also has an app here, with in-app steps to disable the battery optimization settings.

Cannot Re-enable accessibility service for Power Menu:

This stopping of service on some devices can lead to accessibility permission malfunctioning which leads to recursive requests for accessibility permission, In that case try out the following steps.

  1. Cycle the accessibility setting for power menu off and on again then the app works again; i.e. Once the app is force stopped the permission has to be enabled again and if it is still not working turn the accessibility setting for the app off and on again; preferably 2 times; this should work.
  2. If the above methods don't work: force stop app ,clear cache and data of the app & reopen app.
  3. Once we tried all above methods but didn't work, so we Uninstalled and reinstalled the app; it began working fine after that.

Query:

Regarding "Power Menu" app, the Power menu shown is missing restart button as shown in screenshot. Why?

Answer:

The app only opens device default power menu of your device.
Since your device manufacturer provided power menu does not include restart option; you will need to use adb commands in order to restart your phone. We will providing a tutorial to do the same on our telegram channel here sometime in the future.

Query:

In "Power Menu", if my phone is shut down, how can one power on the phone since the power button is defective?

Answer:

We have already mentioned this in the play store app description. You can only turn it on using the hardware key itself. There is no other way we are aware of.
