Investing in buying an Android TV equipment can be profitable to most households in India. In this post we detail why!
We have been using android based, Amazon's Fire TV stick for the past 2 years. In that time we have spent nothing on entertainment because of the large array of dynamic content accessible via this entertainment machine. All of the above hold true for any android based TV.

In most households we can find an internet connection nowadays. If you are a user of a broadband/Fiber connection, an android TV should set you on course for a nill entertainment bill.

We currently have BSNL FTTH 777, renamed to 18GB per day plan; in our household and the total monthly bill comes upto 1020 adding GST and the ONT renting charge, down from our previous BB COMBO ULD 999 plan bill amount of 1120.

After purchasing of Fire TV we cut the cord and switched to fully internet based VOD/ Streaming apps like YuppTV to view all channels, movies; A complete list of apps I have been using in this time to browse and stream content has been listed in my previous post Amazon Fire TV Cord Cutter's Guide.

In total if I were to go to a theater every single week with my family it would cost me roughly 125 rs/person. Totaling 500/week, so for a whole year it would cost around 26,000! Then, also taking into account the Set-Top-Box monthly charge of 300, a whole year would cost an additional 3600 per year. But just by purchasing an Android TV based machine, namely Fire TV I was able to save that money hence helping me save INR 30,000 (USD 430) /year. Hope you found this post useful.

Pre-calculations:
500*52 (125*4) - One film/week at some theater for a family of four.
300*12 - Set Top Box monthly charge.

Total - 30,000/year.

Investment:
8k - TV with HDMI port. (Lasts 10+ years easily)
3k - Amazon Fire TV Stick. (Lasts 5+ years easily)
1k/month - Internet plan

Total - 12k (TV cost + Amazon Fire TV stick) initial investment + 12k/year (Internet plan/year).

In this post we have listed apps that enable you to "cut the cord" in India if you own an Android TV.
